Species List
The species list for the Ohio River basin was compiled by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service with the use of their personal collection located at the Ohio River Island Refuge detachment. All information on each species page was taken from the Field Guide to Freshwater Mussels of the Midwest (Cummings, K.S., C. A. Mayer. 1992) and A Guide to the Freshwater Mussels of Ohio (Watters, Thomas G. 1995). All pictures were taken, by Chris Todd, from the species collection located at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, The Ohio River Island Refuge detachment, and also at the zoology department at Ohio State University.
