Welcome to Our Highly Recognized Teacher Education Program
Based on the performance of our current and former students and our innovative approaches to preparing teachers, Marietta College has been recognized by the Ohio Board of Regents as one of Ohio’s top teacher preparation programs. We offer nationally recognized programs at all grade levels that meet rigorous national standards for educator preparation set by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). We are committed to providing our teacher education students with the experiences that will prepare them to be educator leaders in their schools through developing professional relationships that enable collaboration with colleagues, families, communities, and professional organizations for the purpose of facilitating student learning.
Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation Program (CAEP) Approved Provider with Approved Programs through the Ohio Department of Higher Education
Marietta College offers initial preparation programs at the undergraduate level in each of the following areas:
- Primary Education and Special Education Dual Preparation - This program leads to an Ohio Primary license (general education, grades PreK-5) and Intervention Specialist (Pre-K–Grade 5)
- Middle Childhood and Special Education Dual Preparation - This program leads to an Ohio Middle Childhood license in 2 content areas (Grades 4-9 in Math/Science or Grades 4-9 in Language Arts/Social Studies) and Intervention Specialist (Grades 4-9)
- Secondary Education and Special Education Dual Preparation - This program leads to an Ohio Adolescence to Young Adult (Grades 7-12) license in one of the following content areas below and Intervention Specialist (Grades 7-12):
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Earth/Space Science
- Integrated Language Arts
- Integrated Math
- Integrated Social Studies
- Physics
- Secondary Education Preparation - This program leads to an Ohio Adolescence to Young Adult (Grades 7-12) license in one of the following content areas:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Earth/Space Science
- Integrated Language Arts
- Integrated Math
- Integrated Social Studies
- Physics
- Wellness Education and Special Education Dual Preparation — This program leads to an Ohio Physical Education license (Pre-K– Grade 12) and Intervention Specialist Mild-Moderate Needs license (Kindergarten – Grade 12).
- Music Education - This program leads to an Ohio Music Education license (Kindergarten- Grade 12).
- Marietta also offers a non-licensure Educational Studies degree that prepares graduates to work in an educational setting that takes place outside the classroom.

Call For Public Comment
All educator preparation providers (EPPs) are required to solicit third-party comment on the quality of the EPP’s programs as part of the accreditation review process.
The EPP is required to solicit third party comments on its qualifications for accreditation as part of the accreditation review process. The EPP is required to provide evidence to CAEP within seven (7) days of such notice being posted. If an EPP does not provide evidence that it has sought third-party comment, CAEP reserves the right to reschedule the site review.
Not less than sixteen (16) weeks prior to the scheduled date of a site visit, both the EPP and CAEP must publicly announce the upcoming accreditation review and the date of the site review to provide time for interested stakeholders to make comments. Stakeholders include, but are not limited to, full-time and adjunct faculty/educators, staff, candidates, cooperating teachers and/or mentors, completers, and employers.
