Welcome to the Department of Mass Media at Marietta College. Our mission is to teach students to effectively "communicate" in a rapidly changing and complex world. We train our students to excel in multimedia including radio, television, newspapers, online media, advertising, public relations and corporate communications. While students, they receive hands-on training in today's mass media formats. Upon graduation, they leave Marietta College with professional media competence and a strong liberal arts background. They have the tools to enable them to succeed in broadcasting, print journalism, public relations, advertising, and various forms of corporate management.

Experienced full-time faculty and adjunct faculty who are heavily credentialed in their respective specialties teach our students. The Marietta College Department of Mass Media offers four majors: Advertising-Public Relations, Journalism, Radio and Television, and Corporate Communications.

To give our students professional experience, we also have two radio stations, WMRT-FM 88.3 and WCMO-FM; a 24-hour television station, WCMO-TV; a weekly newspaper, The Marcolian; and a yearbook, The Mariettana. These media outlets are available to students as freshman and continue to be valuable opportunities extending through the students' senior year.

In addition to on-campus media experience, each Mass Media major must complete a professional internship in his or her respective field prior to graduation. Come in and visit our site and explore our media outlets. Read about our faculty and peruse our course offerings. If you want the benefits of a small liberal arts college combined with cutting edge mass media education, then Marietta College's Mass Media Department is for you.
