Tag subcommittee met.

April 10 from 11-12 various faculty members listed below will share with members of the Board of Trustees ways that they are using technology to enhance classroom experiences.

 

Steve Spilatro – Microorganism Identification

Eric Fitch – Global Information Systems

Tim Catalano – Writing Center Tutors

Matt Young – History

Dottie Erb – Education

Jill Moncarz/Emilee Connors – Chemistry

Almuth Tschunko – Bird Identification

 

Strategic Plan for IT Dept for the next few years   John Davis did a brief summary of goals for the campus and IT Dept. such as: Wireless access, PDA’s, cell phones, portals, help desk interactive software, webadvisor (so that students can access their grades/transcripts on line) Course management software WebCT vs. blackboard etc – Apple computers and support of – possibility of offering laptops instead of desktops in the faculty computer replacement program with old pc’s returning to IT for recycling – Website maintenance

Members of the TAG committee are to review the Information Technology Strategic Plan 2003-2006 and email John Davis any ideas/updates/suggestions or comments.

 

Equipment clearing house set up and form created for checking equipment in/out – just waiting for equipment to come in to lend – everything should be up and running by summer.

 

Laura Little does have a laptop and portable projector that are available on a loan out basis members of TAG were encouraged to let colleagues know that this is available and to contact Laura X4815 to reserve.

 

Tag Website updated and projects from year one have been added.

 

Tegrity was on campus last Monday – Angie Burdiss, Laura Little & Jim Frye attended the presentation – discussion about Tegrity vs video conferencing prices and benefits of both

 

Netspoke – Another interactive program – audio conferencing benefit of this is that it is hosted on Netspoke server (Microsoft product) similar to Tegrity but has no document camera

 

Next meeting – Wednesday April 16 2:00 Mills Hall 2nd floor conference room.
