Old Business

Classroom response systems – postponed

CETL Open House set for November 1 (lower level of Library – Laura’s office) food and beverages will be provided

Mozilla Suite discussion – hold off

OCDE deadline approaching – Friday Nov 4 – for submission of proposals

 

New Business

TIG Subcommittee – need to go over the submitted TIGs – Nov 15 is deadline – (subcommittee – Laura, Scott Lewandowski, Bob Chase, Sharon Douglass) If someone on the committee wishes to turn in a proposal, they may do so.

 

Network use survey by Frank Diller – sheet was passed out and Frank – group went over the information.

 

WebCT/Blackboard merger – wait and see what the outcomes will be for the future of this merger – found out about this at Educause – course management system wants a faculty group to evaluate this project – Laura (Debbie S as a tester) – Angel is used by Penn State – open software moodle – Sakai (sakai.org)

Laura’s blog has info about this – lots of people talking.

 

CALEA – part of Patriotic Act – MC as an internet provider – a way to monitor traffic – John Davis has more information on this – Educause lawyers are filing legal papers regarding this – email Laura for info on CALEA

 

Oct 28 – Faculty Forum 5:00 in the Mississippi Room of the Lafayette Hotel – presentation at 6:00 by Laura – Star School Education – teaching using games

 

Printing issues in open labs – Debbie will gather information about what other labs on campus are doing. – Library is going through a substantial amount of paper and toner cartridges since there is no charge this year for copies made.  Software available to charge back to student accounts (swipe card method) PA program gives students 2 reams of paper each semester – printing policies across the campus will be reviewed.

Some issues mentioned:

 

Would we withhold diplomas if paper fee not paid?
