Annual Traditions
Matriculation
Matriculation signifies a student's formal enrollment at Marietta College when all incoming freshmen sign their names on the roll of Marietta College students. The August event is the first of several orientation events, and families are welcomed to attend.
December Graduation
An informal ceremony in the McDonough Center for students who graduate in the fall semester.
Founders Day
Marietta College celebrates its birthday, which was February 14, 1835, on February 14th—or the Thursday before it—every year with a tribute called Founders Day. Each year the College selects a guest speaker and presents faculty awards.
Commencement
Marietta College's traditional graduation ceremony takes place in May. A commencement speech offers encouragement to the students before they receive their degrees and become members of Marietta College's Long Blue Line.
