When did you know Marietta College was the right school for you?

I visited Marietta College with my parents in the spring of my senior year of high school. At the end of the day, all three of us agreed it was the place to be. The people are friendly, everyone you meet says hello; the campus is beautiful year-round, especially in the spring; and the faculty and staff genuinely care about the students’ education and success. Just being in that environment made Marietta feel like a second home.

Favorite Marietta moment?

This is such a difficult question to answer! I honestly don’t think I can choose one favorite moment. I loved all five years I spent at Marietta and would go back tomorrow if I could. I have so many great memories, from Matriculation, to living in Dorothy Webster and meeting people in freshman housing, to living in the Alpha Xi Delta house and spending time with my sisters, to working in the Student Life Office, to going to classes and learning from outstanding faculty. It is honestly impossible for me to choose one favorite Marietta moment.

Describe what life was like during your time at Marietta College.

Life was good during my time at Marietta College! Even though a lot was happening outside our community, some good and some bad, the Marietta College community always stood together. The students, faculty and staff have a strong sense of community and it shines in the good and bad times.

What impact did Marietta College have on your career?

Marietta College gave me a foundation for my education and career I could not have gotten anywhere else. MC allowed me to grow in too many ways to count. During my time in Marietta, I matured academically, personally, and in leadership roles. I was able to take advantage of too many opportunities to name. I find myself constantly using skills I learned through the Psychology Department, the McDonough Leadership Program, Alpha Xi Delta, and the Greek community in everyday situations. On top of all that, Marietta helped me find the confidence in myself to know that hard work pays off and there is no excuse for not always trying your best.

What does it mean to be a Pioneer?

Being a Pioneer means to forge ahead, even into situations that may be frightening or unknown, in order to make a difference in yourself, your community, and your world. While they’re forging ahead, Pioneers remember their roots, where they came from, and who helped them get where they are. Pioneers are courageous, unwavering, innovative, and resilient people and Marietta College is full of them.
