History
If you’re from the Mid-Ohio Valley or even somewhere in the Tri-State region of Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, chances are you may know someone who attended Marietta College more than sixty years ago on the G.I. Bill after World War Two.
Marietta has always welcomed soldiers, sailors, and aviators with open arms and never more so than in the immediate aftermath of WW II. In fact, the College was just barely able to hold them all. Veterans flocked to campus where they experienced a very special combination of hospitality, accommodation, academic challenge and opportunity lasting a lifetime.
That history of embracing veterans played a significant role in encouraging the current administration of Marietta College to enthusiastically join with the Veterans Administration to participate in the Yellow Ribbon program.

First steps
If you’ve arrived at this page, it’s likely that you are interested in exploring your options for higher education under this program. As an active Yellow Ribbon partner, we welcome your interest in our undergraduate programs. While the process can appear daunting, it’s really not as difficult as it may seem and we’re anxious to assist you whether you’re just beginning to consider your options or interested in moving forward to pursue a Marietta College degree.
We realize that as a veteran, you have a unique situation. We treat each applicant as an individual and take everything into consideration throughout the admission process. Marietta College will work with our returning veterans to ensure the process is as easy as possible.
Please know that Marietta College has not placed a limit on the number of Yellow Ribbon Program recipients, but we do ask all applicants to meet our current admission requirements.

Something to keep in mind
As you consider your academic options at Marietta College, it is useful to remember that Marietta College considers the recommendations of the American Council on Education when reviewing military experience for transfer credit. The recommendations are contained in the Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services and the National Guide for Credit Recommendations for Noncollegiate Courses. The recommendations are considered when assessing for possible award of credit successfully completed courses listed in these publications and which are equivalent to or similar to courses offered at Marietta College.

Next Steps
As you consider your academic options, there is another very important piece to the process and it includes appropriate certification to qualify for the Yellow Ribbon program and the documentation that goes with ensuring your benefits find their way to you and your individualized course of study.
For instance, applying for your certification begins with Form VA 22-1990, a confirmation number and registration of classes as well. Completing those steps as quickly as possible prevents delays in the process and begins the important work of establishing your account with the College and Veterans Administration.
Because we recognize that this part of the Yellow Ribbon program can be every bit as complex as selecting the appropriate course of study, we provide additional resources for your convenience.
