Recent 2007-08 Fellowship recipients include:
Mary Rizzardi Andrew Wind Keira Hambrick Patrick Simone Jennifer Danko Kelsie McCartney Rachel Taylor David McCormick Elisabeth Kager Harrison Potter Ashley Wollam Rachel Carter Philip DeOrsey Saira Khan
The Travel Fellowships Program is designed to foster a sense of learning and commitment between students and a community of scholars. Travel fellowships (up to $500 per student per project) enable students to present their research or perform in the fine arts at a regional or national academic conference. When sufficient funding is available, students wishing simply to attend a professional conference may also be considered for a smaller fellowship (up to $350 of funding per student per conference).
Fulltime undergraduate students in any discipline with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA may apply for Travel Fellowships. Awards are competitive and require sponsorship by a faculty mentor. At Marietta we believe the experience of presenting original work at a larger regional or national forum enriches ones intellectual life and enhances a sense of professionalism. Travel Fellowship recipients will make poster presentations of their research or performances at the annual Marietta College Spring Investigative Studies Celebration Day.In recent years, Marietta College students have presented the results of their research and creative efforts at confe
rences including the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR), the Latin American Studies Symposium, the American Choral Directors Association, the Midwestern Psychological Association, the National Broadcast Society Convention, the North American Accounting Society, and the Joint Mathematics Meetings. The topics of these presentations have ranged from Brazil's Movement of Landless Rural Workers to the immune system's responses to tumors, to compensation indices for CEOs at non-profit hospitals, and performances in honors choirs and broadcast competitions.
