Marietta College Student Success
Marietta College is committed to both planning for the success of our students and measuring their progress along the way.
Measuring, or assessing, student success allows for celebrating accomplishments as well as identifying and addressing areas in need of attention.
This website presents Marietta College's plan for student success.
Three specific areas are addressed:
- General Education – Marietta College's general education program requires study across ten cognate areas. For each cognate area, a number of desired student learning outcomes have been identified. Student achievement relative to these outcomes is assessed annually.
- Academic Programs – Statements of vision, mission, goals, and student learning outcomes are in place for each undergraduate and graduate program offered at Marietta College. Student achievement relative to the student learning outcomes is measured at the program level by employing a variety of assessment techniques ranging from pre- and post-testing to student opinion surveys.
- Special Features – A number of special features are in place at Marietta College that serve to enhance and support the student learning experience. The College is committed to measuring the impact of these programs and activities as well.
You are invited to peruse Marietta College's Student Success Plan and by doing so achieve an understanding of how the College plans for and measures student success.
If you have any questions about the plan, please contact Dave Freeman (freemand@marietta.edu).
