Establish a Scholarship

Donors may create a named endowed scholarship fund in memory or honor of a friend or loved one or leave a legacy with their name that will become a permanent addition to the Marietta College endowment. Donors of endowed funds are provided with annual financial reports on their funds and a description of the activities, students, and programs they benefit.

Scholarships are funded through grants and bequests placed in the College’s permanent endowment fund (or in separate trusts) and annual gifts by alumni, parents, and friends of the College. Their annual income is used to provide assistance to students with financial need and/or scholastic achievement as described.

If you are interested in setting up a fund, please email us at giving@marietta.edu or call (800) 274-4704.

Rickey Scholars

Rickey Scholarships are awarded to students interested in physics at Marietta College. Recipients are selected on the basis of excellent academic achievement, and the scholarship is renewable on an annual basis provided the recipient continues to major in physics and maintains a grade-point average of at least 3.25. The award may include a summer study stipend for physics research. The Rickey Scholarships were established in 2000 by David M. Rickey, Class of 1978 and Jan Nielsen, and the J&D Family Foundation.

Elmer Templeton

Elmer Templeton, a member of the Class of 1959, a Petroleum Engineering professor in the 1960s and 1970s, and one of the first inductees into his Department's Hall of Fame, was also one of the first eight recipients of the Selby Scholarship in 1958.

In 2006, 70 of his former students raised $160,000 to establish the Elmer Templeton Scholarship Fund.
