Remembering MC in Your Will
Many of our alumni, parents and friends make charitable gifts by naming Marietta College as a beneficiary in their wills. This is a tangible way to endorse the mission of the College today and to ensure its continued success in the future. The federal government encourages these gifts or bequests by allowing an unlimited estate tax charitable deduction.
Specific Bequest
An outright gift stating a specific dollar amount or a specific asset such as securities, real estate or tangible personal property.
Residuary Bequest
Marietta College receives all or a percentage of the remainder of your estate following payment of specific legacies, taxes, debts, and estate expenses.
Contingent Bequest
Distribution of property is made only if you outlive your named beneficiaries.
There is no minimum amount required for this type of gift.
