‘Greatest Party in the World’ highlights Senior Week activities
Alex Edelbrock ’11 (Findlay, Ohio) is looking forward to spending a final week with her friends before graduating from Marietta College on May 8.
“I can’t wait to spend a week hanging out with my friends once classes are finished and right before we all graduate,” Edelbrock said.
Edelbrock will be able to join her fellow graduating seniors for the annual Senior Week, which is being organized by Student Senate. All organized activities will take place from May 2-6.
“Each day has a different part of the world as a theme, and the overall theme for senior week is ‘The Greatest Party in the World’,” said Student Senate Vice President, Ryan Nolen ’12 (Belpre, Ohio).
The week kicks off Monday, May 2 with a bonfire and Hawaiian beach party in the Hermann Bowl from 8 p.m. to midnight. Tuesday is a Las Vegas casino night on the Valley Gem Sternwheeler from 7-9 p.m.
A Spanish themed night is scheduled from 6-11 p.m. Wednesday, with a mechanical bull and possible mariachi band at the Lafayette Hotel. Thursday is the Alumni Affairs sponsored faculty, staff and seniors mixer at The Galley in downtown Marietta from 7-9 p.m. Friday there is an afternoon picnic in Parsons Field from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The picnic is themed Down Under and set in Australia.
“The two events I am particularly excited for during senior week are the mechanical bull that is being brought to the event at the Lafayette and having S'mores (which are my favorite food) at the bonfire,” Edelbrock said.
All seniors are invited to participate in Senior Week 2011. Senior’s parents should have received a form about senior week in the graduation mailing to send a check by mail or you can register online at www.marietta.edu/~senates. The cost includes a 2011 Senior Week T-shirt and admission to all events.
