Alpha Xi Delta’s Cunningham, ATO’s Schulte are Homecoming royalty

Marietta College’s Danica Cunningham ’12 (Mineral Wells, W.Va.) and Drew Schulte ’12 (Cleveland, Ohio) were crowned Homecoming 2011 royalty during halftime of the Pioneers’ football game against Wilmington on Saturday, Oct. 15.

The crowning of king and queen was just one of the many highlights of this year’s homecoming week festivities. Throughout the week the candidates participated in activities such as Munchies on the Mall, a Cheer Competition and a Pennant Competition.

Nominated by Alpha Xi Delta sorority, Cunningham is majoring in Organizational Communications and Public Relations and has a minor in both Marketing and Political Science as well as a certificate in Leadership. Cunningham is the daughter of Dennis and Carole Cunningham. Cunningham is also involved in Alpha Xi Delta, McDonough Leadership, the Colleges Against Cancer Executive Board, and the Up ’til Dawn Executive Board.

Schulte, the nominee of Alpha Tau Omega, is the son of Richard and Christine Schulte. He is double majoring in International Leadership Studies and Spanish. His minor is Management. Schulte is the Alpha Tau Omega President, is involved in Men’s Varsity Rowing and Order of Omega.

The other queen candidates were:

Rachel Baughman ’12 (Kent, Ohio) was nominated by Sigma Kappa sorority. Baughman is the daughter of Jaime and Scott Baughman. She is a History major with a minor in Secondary Education and a certificate in Leadership. Baughman is a member of Sigma Kappa, McDonough Leadership, EXCEL, and the Marietta College Outdoor Club.

Katelyn Eckrote ’12 (Tonawanda, N.Y.) was nominated by Charles Sumner Harrison Organization. Eckrote is the daughter of Karen and Bill Eckrote. She is majoring in Intervention Specialist with a Teacher Leadership certificate. Eckrote is a member of Charles Sumner Harrison and is an Admission tour guide.

Kelly Juersivich ’12 (Orrville, Ohio) was nominated by Chi Omega. Juersivich is the daughter of Robert and Jenna Juersivich and is majoring in Mathematics. Beyond Chi Omega, she is involved in cheerleading, is employed at Dyson Baudo Recreation Center, and is a member of Math Club.

Kristin Norton ’12 (Akron, Ohio) was nominated by Omicron Chi Theta. Norton, the daughter of Laurie Norton, is an International Leadership Studies Major with a minor in Psychology. She is involved in Circle K, Colleges Against Cancer, Psychology Club, Student Senate, Pi Kappa Delta, Psi Chi, Omicron Chi Theta, and College Students for Common Sense.

Rachel Worthington ’12 (Lowell, Ohio) was nominated by the Marietta College Dance Team. Worthington is the daughter of Nathan and Cindy Worthington. She is majoring in Public Accounting and has a minor in Finance as well as a Certificate in Leadership Studies. Worthington is the captain of the Dance Team, Omicron Delta Kappa President, Honors House Treasurer, Executive in Residence Project Student Coordinator, Student Athletic Advisory Committee Representative and Tau Pi Phi Secretary.

The other king candidates were:

Ryan Nolen ’12 (Belpre, Ohio) was nominated by Delta Tau Delta. Nolen is the son of Jim and Linda Nolen and is a Marketing major with a minor in Advertising and Public Relations as well as Communication Studies and has a Certificate in Leadership. He is the Student Body President and a volunteer at the Humane Society.

Will Vance ’12 (Wilmington, Ohio) was nominated by the Honors House. Vance is the son of Hugh and JoEllen Vance. He is a Physics major with a minor in Math. Vance is President of the Physics Club, a tutor for the Academic Resource Center, a member of the Vine, Intervarsity, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble, as well as Students for Environmental Awareness.
