Art Department hosting ‘Aspects of Representation’ exhibition

Marietta College’s Art Department is presenting “Aspects of Representation,” from Sept. 28 to Oct. 25 at the Gilman Student Center Art Gallery. There is an opening reception from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 6.

The exhibition features the work of representational artist, Chuck Atkins, who has been painting and drawing for 15 years. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Western Carolina University. Atkins has had numerous group and solo exhibitions in North Carolina, West Virginia and Ohio. He is currently the manager of Marietta College’s bookstore.

“The figurative work is partially based on human emotions as well as relationships,” Atkins said. “I am a story-teller, and incorporate sentimental and autobiographical elements. The figures in my work are based on my visual memory and imagination.”
