College adds experienced fundraiser to lead Marietta Fund
A fundraiser with more than 15 years of experience has recently joined Marietta College as the Director of the Marietta Fund.
Jerry L. Schafer, who most recently worked as an associate vice president for gift planning at the Ohio Presbyterian Retirement Services Foundation in Columbus, Ohio, joined the College on July 2. Schafer's primary responsibility is to manage the Marietta Fund staff and develop a strategy to reach the $5 million goal established by the College's $50 million comprehensive campaign. Schafer will also provide assistance with the Senior Challenge and other fundraising goals within the Advancement Office.
"We are extremely pleased that Jerry Schafer has joined our Advancement Team at Marietta College," said Lori Lewis, Vice President for Advancement. "He has extensive experience in all phases of annual gift programs as well as major gift and comprehensive campaign development."
Schafer has a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Muskingum College, and a Master of Divinity from Trinity Lutheran Seminary and other graduate studies at Drew University. Schafer was also a pastor at a variety of Lutheran churches in Ohio and Michigan.
Schafer and his wife, Cathy, live in Pickerington, Ohio with their son, Evan.
