College expects exciting evening of jazz at downtown’s Adelphia

Marietta College’s Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo will be joined by FloodStage to perform an exciting evening of instrumental and vocal jazz music at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 8.

The show will be at the Adelphia, next to the Galley Restaurant at 203 2nd St., in downtown Marietta.

The ensemble and combo are under the direction of Marshall C. Kimball and FloodStage is under the direction of Dr. Daniel Monek, Chairman of the Edward E. MacTaggart Department of Music.

Instrumental selections span from the 1920s to the present. They include works by Horace Silver, Billy Joel, Jimmy Van Heusen, and A Tribute To Artie Shaw by Cole Porter.

The six, talented members of FloodStage will be joined by a combo of professional jazz musicians and they will present a variety of works from the Great American Songbook of the 1930s and 1940s, as well as contemporary jazz arrangements.
