College hires award-winning journalist as writer/editor

A former magazine editor and veteran journalist has recently joined Marietta College as a writer and editor in the Office of College Relations.

Gi Smith, who was the editor of Buckeye Family Magazine based out of Newark, Ohio, joined the College on June 18. Smith's primary responsibility is to be the lead writer on a number of projects, including two bi-annual alumni publications - Marietta, The Magazine of Marietta College and Trailblazer. Smith will also provide content for the College Website and some other selected publications.

Smith has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Ohio University. Smith was also an award-winning journalist with the Zanesville Times Recorder, Coshocton Tribune and The Marietta Times.

Smith and her husband, Jeff, live in Marietta with their two daughters, Audrey and Ellie.

College Relations is also excited to announce that Adeline Bailey, formerly a part-time writer, has officially transitioned into the part-time role as Publications Coordinator. She assumes a majority of the responsibilities that were formally held by the Director of Printing and Production.

Bailey started her new position on June 4. Bailey and her husband, Mike, reside in Marietta.
