Economic Roundtable of the Ohio Valley kicks off season Sept. 11
Ray Neidl, an airline industry analyst with the Maxim Group, is the first speaker in the 2012-13 Economic Roundtable of the Ohio Valley season.
Neidl will speak about “The Future of Commercial Aviation,” starting around noon, Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Marietta Country Club.
Prior to his work at Maxim Group, Neidl worked for Calyon Securities, a division of Credit Agricole S.A. (now CLSA) where he covered the airlines. Previous to that he covered airlines/leisure companies and casino sectors as a Managing Director at Blaylock & Partners, LP, a New York-based brokerage and investment bank, where he covered these volatile industries from an equity, convertible and bond view.
Neidl has been frequently selected to the Wall Street Journal’s and Forbes Magazine “Best of the Best Analysts” for his earnings forecasts and stock picks. Neidl is the co-author of the published book, Airline Odyssey — The Airline Industry’s Turbulent Flight into the Future, published by McGraw-Hill.
Most recently he has been a contributor to four industry publications — Airline Economics, Airline Operations, Airline Planning and Airline Financing, all McGraw-Hill publications whose contributors include numerous well-known professionals and managers in the aviation and aerospace industries.
Neidl regularly appears on various general and business news programs as an industry expert and is frequently quoted in both the general and business news publications regarding the aviation and airline industries. He is also a featured speaker at various airline conferences and has testified before Congressional Committees on airline related industry matters.
He received an MBA in Finance from Pace University and a Bachelor of Science from Albany State University. He is a member of the New York Society of Securities Analysts Airline Splinter Group.
George Mokrzan, Director of Economics for Huntington National Bank, will follow Neidl on the schedule on Wednesday, Oct. 17. The ERT program will resume in 2013 with three speakers: Pablo Vegas, President and Chief Operating Officer of American Electric Power-Ohio in January or February; Dr. Donald J. Boudreaux,Professor of Economics at George Mason University, on March 4; and Robert Rubin, former Secretary of the U.S. Treasury, and current Co-Chairman of the Council on Foreign Relations, on Wednesday, April 10.
The Economic Roundtable of the Ohio Valley is a non-partisan non-political educational organization that formed in 1982 as a result of collaboration between the Business and Economics Department at Marietta College and a group of business, civic and educational leaders. The object of the Economic Roundtable is to promote an interest in and to enlighten its members and others in the community on important governmental, economic, and social issues. Since its inception, the Economic Roundtable of the Ohio Valley has presented the Ohio Valley with more than 160 distinguished speakers who have enlightened and informed ERT members with their fascinating discussion on a broad scope of governmental, economic and social issues.
