Marietta alumna named new assistant director for Advancement

Kristin Garrison '84, who has spent the past 4 1/2 years in advancement and alumni positions at Ohio University, has been hired as the Assistant Director for Advancement at Marietta College.

Recently Garrison has worked as the executive assistant for the vice president for University Advancement at Ohio and before that as the executive assistant for the assistant vice president for the Ohio University Alumni Association.

Garrison said she believes she can take the experience she has obtained working at Ohio University, in addition to the knowledge she received from her education at Marietta College, to her new position.

"I have gained a great deal of experience and knowledge from Ohio University, including quite a bit of support, " Garrison said. "I feel that I have something valuable to bring to Marietta College. Also, I am excited to get the chance to work with (Vice President for Advancement) Lori Lewis and (Assistant Vice President for Advancement) Evan Bohnen."

According to Garrison, she and Lewis share similar ideas in business, advancement and higher education. "When we interviewed, we had a lot of the same ideas of what we wanted for Marietta College, and I wanted to work with her," Garrison said. "She has an excellent reputation at Ohio University and in the business of higher education and advancement. The professionals speak very highly of her and of Evan Bohnen."

Garrison begins at Marietta College on July 1. "I think idea of being in development as an alumna is a dream come true," Garrison said. "It really is a dream job for me."
