Marietta College names new Director of Conference Services

Laurie L. McKain, a marketing professional with 21 years of experience, has been appointed Director of Conference Services at Marietta College.

"After conducting a nationwide search advised by outside consultants, we found the person who was the best for the position right here in Parkersburg, W.Va.," said Dan Bryant, Vice President for Administration and Finance. "With Laurie's leadership we anticipate an expansion of conference services, not only to bring in additional revenues, but also to promote the great facilities at Marietta College to a wider community for consideration as a conference destination."

McKain says she looks forward to developing the College's program: "I believe we have many opportunities to broaden Marietta College's reach to the community and even the international community, to utilize Marietta College's facilities and academic strength."

McKain brings to the College a varied background of marketing experience acquired in industries ranging from retail to service to education. Most recently, she was marketing manager for Charter Media in Parkersburg, W.Va. Her past positions include directing marketing for retail malls in Parkersburg and Sheboygan, Wis.; directing tourism for the Elkhart Lake (Wis.) Tourism Commission; serving as account executive and media buyer for a full service advertising agency in Tennessee; and directing marketing and public relations for Ohio Valley College in Parkersburg.

McKain holds a bachelor's degree in business administration with a major in marketing from West Virginia University.

McKain resides in Parkersburg with her husband, Mike, daughter, Paige, and son, Ian.
