Marietta College alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff and friends have sent a clear and distinct message about their passion and endorsement of the institution through their level of monetary support over the past 12 months.

The Marietta Fund, for the seventh consecutive year, has exceeded the fiscal year goal currently at $2,431,823.85 — with a week remaining. The 2018-19 goal was $2.35 million. While reaching the revenue goal ensures the College remains in strong financial footing, there is one important goal that has yet to be met: 18-percent participation from the alumni base.

“Once again, the Marietta College family has endorsed the spirit of The Long Blue Line and reasserted their Pioneer pride by supporting The Marietta Fund,” said Kathryn Gloor, Senior Director of Annual Giving. “We are so thankful to our donors over this past fiscal year. Their generosity provides an exceptional education to our current students and future Pioneers.”

The Marietta Fund supports every aspect of the College — from student aid and student life to academics and athletics.

“The Marietta Fund is critical for the College,” Gloor said. “It makes it possible to pursue excellence in everything we do.”

Overall, gifts to The Marietta Fund include 2,535 donors — with 381 being new donors.

“Exceeding The Marietta Fund goal with plenty of time to spare is an amazing statement by our alumni and donors that Marietta College is heading the right direction,” said Dr. William N. Ruud, Marietta College’s 19th President. “We can see the excitement on campus every day, but when the support flows in from so many donors to make sure the College remains one of the nation’s top residential liberal arts colleges, then we know Marietta College’s future continues to get brighter.”

In the final week of the College’s fiscal year, President Ruud has a challenge for alumni, parents, employees and friends who have not made a gift yet.

“We don’t care about the size of the gift, but we want you to join us and the thousands of passionate Pioneers investing in today’s students,” he said. “Reaching our goal of 18-percent participation is important. It helps the College when seeking out grants and in national rankings. So, if you haven’t made a gift to The Marietta Fund this year, please consider making a gift today.”

Gloor also notes that an anonymous donor has agreed to match the first $5 of each new alumni gift that is made to the College between June 24-30. Make a difference in the lives of current and future Marietta College students by making a donation to The Marietta Fund at www.marietta.edu/give.
