Marietta students finish in Top 5 of Effie Brand Challenge
For the third consecutive year, students from Marietta College’s Advertising & Public Relations Campaigns class has reached the semifinals of the Effie Collegiate Brand Challenge.
Marietta’s team of Kayla Billos ’16 (Benwood, W.Va.), Kyle Dugan ’17 (Washington, Pa.), Caroline Sigmon ’17 (Hickory, N.C.) and Colin Williams ’16 (Brooklyn, N.Y.) were one of five teams to be named semifinalists.
Instructor Lori Smith said the class consisted of three teams that entered the 2016 contest by completing an integrated marketing communications case in response to a specific challenge identified by the V8 and Kleenex brands.
“This provided the experience of developing a campaign from creative to presentation, in a setting that mirrored the actual business environment,” Smith said. “They presented in front of local professionals and created a plans book. All of the teams did very well with their projects and most importantly, they learned about the process and teamwork. This class helps students realize what their strengths are and what part of the campaign process they enjoy the most. I am so proud that one of the teams progressed to the semi-finals of this prestigious national contest.”
Marietta’s team was a semifinalist for the V8+Energy Brand Challenge with their submission called “Your Life + Energy.” The two finalists were Columbia College Chicago and Kent State.
