Nominations sought for MC’s Community Service Recognition Award

Marietta College plans to present the fourth annual Community Service Recognition Award during the annual Founders Day Convocation at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 10.

Before the College can do that, President Jean A. Scott is asking for nominations.

The award recognizes a member of the Marietta community who has made a significant contribution to education at any level. The recipient will be a resident of Washington County and will not be a Marietta College employee.

Past winners are:

2004: Marilyn Ortt (environmental issues)
2003: Jim Rapp (diversity and AIDS awareness)
2002: Alice Chapman (Ely Chapman Foundation)

Anyone wishing to nominate someone should send it to Bruce Hurley, Director of Civic Engagement, Marietta College, 215 Fifth St., Marietta OH 45750. You can also e-mail nominations at by Monday, Jan. 24. The nominations should be about one page in length and should include the names and phone numbers of three people (excluding the nominator) with whom the nomination can be discussed.
