Pioneer send-off set for 10 a.m. Thursday outside Recreation Center

The Marietta and College communities are invited to turn out in support of Jon VanderWal and his 11th ranked Pioneers as they depart for this weekend’s NCAA Division III Sectionals at The College of Wooster!

Anyone wishing to celebrate this special occasion should gather at the northwest corner of the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 10, where the bus will be waiting for the team to board in preparation for their trip.

While the weather doesn’t promise to be ideal, there’s nothing soggy about Pioneer spirit, so come and rally ‘round the Navy Blue and White!

Just a Reminder...

The College of Wooster has announced its ticket plan for the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball "Sweet 16," which will take place Friday and Saturday (March 11-12) at Timken Gymnasium.

There will be no advanced ticket sales and the gates open at 3:30 p.m. Friday, and 5 p.m. Saturday. Wooster, who is hosting its third “Sweet 16” sectional round, is confident its 3,400-seat Timken Gymnasium will have plenty of room for fans of each game Friday night.

As set by the NCAA, ticket prices for this weekend's sectional round are $7 for adults and senior citizens and $4 for students and children (under two are free).

Marietta (27-3) will open play against No. 1 Whitworth University (27-1) at 5:30 p.m. Friday. No. 5 Wooster (26-2) will then host Cabrini College (24-5) at approximately 7:30 p.m. The winners will go head-to-head at 7 p.m. Saturday for the sectional championship and the winner advances to the “Final Four” March 18-19 in Salem, Va.

The College is also offering a charter bus option for fans at just $25 each. Seating for the bust, which leaves from campus Friday, is limited. For the latest on the "Sweet 16" including information on how to view Friday night’s game with Whitworth online, please go to Wooster's tournament site.
