Platinum sponsor announced for Mid-Ohio Valley Entrepreneur Expo
Dr. Jacqueline Khorassani, Chair & Professor of Economics/Director of Entrepreneurship Programs at Marietta College, has announced Perry & Associates, Certified Public Accountants, as the Platinum Sponsor for the first Mid-Ohio Valley Entrepreneur Expo scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 17, at Marietta College.
“We are so excited to have such a long-standing company rooted for 43 years in the Mid-Ohio Valley offer to become our 2016 Platinum Sponsor,” commented Dr. Khorassani. “This really makes a statement for the value that entrepreneurs have in our area and in the United States. And it says a lot about a company stepping up to show their support and commitment to entrepreneurs and small businesses in the area,” she added.
Jodey Altier, President and Managing Partner, for Perry & Associates, said, “When we heard about the Mid -Ohio Entrepreneur Expo and the possibility of being able to spotlight an entrepreneur and/or small business owner in the area, we knew it was a perfect fit for our firm. Perry & Associates has a long-standing heritage of working with new and upcoming small businesses that started many years ago. The firm has made a conscious commitment to continue helping entrepreneurs and small businesses ever since.” She continued, “Perry & Associates was a very small business once. I, myself, am a woman-owned small business. We understand that owning and managing a business is tough. As certified public accountants and auditors, we can help lift some of the burden of being a business owner. A great day in my business is being able to meet and help new business owners, as well as, sharing in the excitement of business owners that are ready to expand, she added.
Ms. Altier, who moved to the Marietta, Ohio area several years ago to join Perry & Associates was a senior accountant for PriceWaterhouseCoopers, a fortune 500 accounting firm located in Columbus, Ohio. “When I worked for Pricewaterhouse, I enjoyed the work, the people and traveling to meet new businesses. I worked there for several years, then something tugged at my heart. I wanted to be able to help the start-up business person, the small entrepreneur and the person who had a great idea and wanted to take it to market. In my heart, I believe it is these types of people, the heart of our economy, that make a community thrive. That is why being a Platinum Sponsor for this event is so important to me and to the success of the greater Mid-Ohio Valley. My team and I are totally on-board with this and are very much elated to be the top sponsor,” she said.
According to Khorassani, the objective of starting the Mid-Ohio Valley Entrepreneur Expo was to bring together aspiring and current small business owners and entrepreneurs from all ages, educational levels, and industries for networking and benchmarking. During the expo, participants will have the opportunity to attend concurrent sessions in four (4) tracks: Social Media & Technology; Financing and Capital; Human Resources and Operations; and Marketing, Branding, and Communications.
The Expo will also be hosting a vendor showcase where sponsors can promote their goods and services and network with attendees.
The Mid-Ohio Valley Entrepreneur Expo came together when Marietta College’s Entrepreneurship Program extended an invitation to local agencies to collaborate on the creation of an event that would spotlight and provide much needed information for the local small businesses and entrepreneurs. Lending their support for the 2016 Mid-Ohio Valley Entrepreneur Expo in addition to Marietta College are: Belpre Area Chamber of Commerce; Buckeye Hills-Hocking Valley Regional Development District; Building Bridges to Career, Chamber of Commerce of the Mid-Ohio Valley; Froggy 99, Huntington Bank, Managers Resource Group, Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce; Marietta Mainstreet, McDonough Foundation; Ohio Small Business Development Center at Marietta; Southeastern Ohio Port Authority, United Way Alliance of Mid-Ohio Valley; Washington County Career Center; Washington State Community College; White Caps Creative Group; and the Workforce Development Board of the Mid-Ohio Valley.
