Game 6 boxscore

For the second time in three seasons, the Otterbein Cardinals won the Ohio Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament.

Marietta led 7-6 heading into the top of the seventh inning, when a four-hour rain delay brought the championship game to a halt. Once play resumed, Otterbein tied the game in the bottom of the seventh on a home run by Pat Connor and then scored four runs in the eighth to take the title 11-7.

Doug Stevens (5-2) shutdown the Etta Express over the final 3.1 innings, allowing just one hit, to pick up the win. It was his second of the weekend. Wally Theado was the Cardinal starter. He allowed seven runs on 11 hits in 5.6 innings of a no decision.

Marietta senior Bo Cooksey (0-2) suffered the loss, giving up three runs on one hit in just 0.3 innings. Sophomore Mike Eisenberg, who started the game, surrendered six runs on seven hits in the first six innings, but did not retake the mound after the extensive rain delay.

The Etta Express took an early 1-0 lead in the first when junior Jarrod Klausman singled home Ryan Belanger. Otterbein took the lead 3-1 in the third as it capitalized on two Pioneers errors in the inning. Marietta reclaimed the lead by out scoring Otterbein 6-3 over the next three innings heading into the rain delay. However, it was all Cardinals after the intermission, as they went on to claim the 11-7 victory.

This was the third straight year Marietta has not won the OAC Tournament title and second consecutive season another team celebrated a championship at Pioneer Park. The victory gives Otterbein (28-14) an automatic bid to next week's NCAA Regional, while Marietta's (32-10-1) fate is in the hands of the NCAA Selection Committee.
