Etta Express voted back into ABCA/Collegiate Baseball poll
Marietta moves from unranked to 19th in second poll of the regular season

MARIETTA, Ohio — After a week absence, the Marietta College baseball team's named appeared back in the American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division III poll, release Monday (Apr. 3) afternoon. The Pioneers (13-5, 2-0 OAC) went from being unranked last week to 19th in the poll, which lists the top 30 programs in the nation, as voted by a group of coaches.

Marietta went 5-0 last week with a victory over Waynesburg (Pa.) and two over both Allegheny (Pa.) and Wilmington. The Etta Express was also voted third in the Mideast Regional Rankings, which accompanied the national poll.

Emory (Ga.) (26-2) took six first place votes to jump from third to first in the poll. Wooster (19-4), despite losing a game to Allegheny over the weekend, remained No. 2, while New Jersey (15-2), last week's top-ranked team, fell to third. Both Wooster and New Jersey received one first place vote.

Cortland State (N.Y.) (16-4) and St. Scholastica (Minn.) (18-2) rounded out the top five of the poll.

Wooster holds the top spot in the regional poll, while 11th-ranked Manchester (Ind.) (17-4) was second, Marietta third. 28th-ranked Kenyon (18-6) fourth and Ohio Wesleyan (14-6) fifth. The Fighting Scots, Marietta's opponent on Thursday (Apr. 6) also received votes, but fell out of the national poll this week.

The Pioneers will return to action Tuesday (Apr. 4), when they visit Denison for a single, nine-inning game at 7 p.m.
