Etta Express remain No. 19 in latest ABCA/Collegiate Baseball poll
Marietta ranked third in Mideast Region

MARIETTA, Ohio — Marietta College baseball's place in the most recent American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate (ABCA) NCAA Division III poll, release Tuesday (Apr. 18) afternoon, remained the same. The Pioneers (20-5, 6-0 OAC) remained at No. 19 in the poll, which lists the top 30 programs in the nation, as voted by a group of coaches.
Marietta went 7-0 since the last poll with victories over Denison, Ohio Wesleyan, Heidelberg (2), Bethany and Baldwin-Wallace (2). The Etta Express, who have now won 12 straight, was also voted third again in the Mideast Regional Rankings, which accompanied the national poll.
Wooster (30-4), who had to cancel its game with Marietta on April 12 because of a NCAC scheduling rule, was ranked No. 1 in the poll. The Fighting Scots received all eight first-place votes. New Jersey (23-4) and SUNY-Cortland (24-5) both moved up a spot to No. 2 and No. 3 respectively. Salisbury (Md.) (27-5) jumped all of the way from No. 13 to No. 4 in the poll, while St. Scholastica (Minn.) (25-3) remained at No. 5.
Emory (Ga.) (29-6), who held the top spot in the April 3 poll, fell to No. 9.
Wooster holds the top spot in the regional poll, while No. 13 Manchester (Ind.) (23-5) was second, Marietta third. No. 29 Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) (19-5) fourth and Ohio Wesleyan (21-10) fifth. The Pioneer are scheduled to host Washington & Jefferson on April 25.
The Pioneers take on rival Muskingum in New Concord this afternoon at 1 p.m. and will visit Otterbein Saturday (Apr. 22) for a 1 p.m. doubleheader with the Cardinals, who are tied the with Pioneers atop the Ohio Athletic Conference.
