Marietta College falls to No. 26 in latest ABCA/Collegiate
Baseball poll
Marietta ranked fourth in Mideast Region

MARIETTA, Ohio — A new American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate
Baseball poll, which lists the top 30 programs in the nation, as
voted by a group of coaches, was released Tuesday (May 2) and Marietta
College fell seven spots to No. 26 nationally.
The Etta Express (26-8, 11-3 OAC) went 6-3 since the last poll
was released, but has now won five straight heading into Wednesday's
(May 3) doubleheader at Mount Union.
Marietta was also picked fourth in the regional poll that accompanied
the national one. The NCAA regional rankings, which are used for
postseason selection, will be released on Thursday (May 4).
New Jersey (32-5) replaced Wooster (36-7) atop the poll. The Fighting
Scots dropped to No. 2 in the poll. SUNY-Cortland (31-6) was third,
while Wheaton (Mass.) (31-6) was fourth. Salisbury (Md.) (35-6)
and St. Scholastica (Minn.) (31-3) were tied for fifth in the poll.
Wooster holds the top spot in the regional poll, while No. 12 Manchester
(Ind.) (28-7) was second, No. 22 Otterbein (21-12) third and Marietta
fourth.
The Pioneers, who have already qualified for the upcoming Ohio
Athletic Conference Tournament, have six regular season games remaining,
including their twinbill at Mount Union Wednesday at 1 p.m.
This weekend (May 6-7) is Alumni Weekend at Marietta College. The
Pioneers will take on John Carroll on Saturday at 12 p.m. Between
games, there is a ceremony scheduled to rename Pioneer Park to Don
Schaly Stadium. There will also be an alumni game Saturday at 7:05
p.m. On Sunday, Marietta will host Pitt-Bradford (Pa.) in a doubleheader
at 1 p.m.
