Marietta College remains No. 30 in ABCA/Collegiate Baseball Poll
Etta Express voted fourth in Mideast Region

MARIETTA, Ohio — The National Champion Marietta College baseball team remained No. 30 in the most recent American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate Baseball Poll, which was released Tuesday (Apr. 24). The poll lists the top 30 NCAA Division III programs in the nation, as voted by a group of coaches.

The Pioneers enter the week with an overall record of 21-8, including 8-4 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Marietta has league doubleheaders at Muskingum set for Wednesday (Apr. 25) at 1 p.m. and with visiting Heidelberg slated for Saturday (Apr. 28) at 1 p.m. In addition, the Etta Express will take on NAIA foe Ohio Dominican in a single, nine-inning game Thursday (Apr. 26) at 7 p.m.

Mideast Regional foe Wooster (33-1) was voted No. 1 in the poll for the third straight time. Rounding out the top 10 were No. 2 Chapman (Calif.) (30-5), No. 3 Cortland State (N.Y.) (28-3), No. 4 Emory (Ga.) (30-7), No. 5 Kean (N.J.) (24-6), No. 6 St. Olaf (Minn.) (21-2), No. 7 Wheaton (Mass.) (23-9), No. 8 Texas Lutheran (30-7-1), No. 9 (tie) Salisbury (Md.) (26-7) and No. 9 (tie) New Jersey (23-8).

Wooster is also the top team in the Mideast Region, while No. 17 Otterbein (21-7) was second, No. 23 Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) (21-7), who Marietta travels to on May 2, was third and the Pioneers were fourth.
