Apr. 26, 2007
INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana — The NCAA Division III Baseball Committee has released the first NCAA Division III baseball poll of the spring, and Marietta College was voted third in the Mideast Region. The committee has ranked the top 15 percent of teams in each of the eight regions with records as of April 24.

Marietta (21-8, 8-4 in the Ohio Athletic Conference) can make a huge impact in the next regional rankings with a successful weekend. The Pioneers, who are 17-4 against in-region opponents this season, have OAC doubleheaders Friday (Apr. 27) at Muskingum and Saturday (Apr. 28) with visiting Heidelberg, before traveling to Wooster (33-2, 26-2 in-region), who is the top-ranked team in the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball Poll, for a pair of games on Sunday (Apr. 29). First pitch of all three match-ups is slated for 1 p.m.

Otterbein (22-7, 19-4 in-region) holds the top spot in the Mideast Region. Wooster was second with Thomas More (Ky.) (20-6, 18-5 in-region), Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) (21-7, 17-6 in-region), Ohio Wesleyan (14-9, 10-4 in-region) and Transylvania (Ky.) (21-9, 18-8 in-region) being ranked fourth through seventh, respectively.
