Brewer named Mideast Region Coach of the Year in 2007
Fourth-year coach led Etta Express back to the NCAA Division III World Series

May 31, 2007
MARIETTA, Ohio — The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) recently released it NCAA Division III Regional awards, and fourth-year Marietta College Head Baseball Coach Brian Brewer was named the Mideast Region Coach of the Year for the second straight season.

With the help of assistant coaches Mike Deegan, Tyler Mott, Jim Bonnette and Chris Hendricks, Brewer guided the young Pioneers, which included only four everyday players and one starting pitcher from last year's national championship squad, to a record of 32-17.

Coming off the national championship—the fourth in school history—in 2006, Brewer led the Etta Express to a share of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) regular season title, its record 20th Mideast Regional crown and a record 19th trip to the NCAA Division III World Series.

The ex-Pioneer player and Glen Burnie, Maryland, native, who was awarded the 2006 ABCA/Diamond NCAA Division III National Coach of the Year, is 140-49 (.741) at Marietta after previously serving as an assistant coach with the Pioneers for four years (2000-03) and as the head coach at John Carroll University for four years (1996-99). Brewer's career head coaching record now stands at 219-134 (.620).
