Marietta climbs to #13 in latest NCBWA/D3baseball.com Poll
Pioneers continue Abilene Classic Tuesday

DALLAS, Texas — The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) teamed up with D3baseball.com to release its latest NCAA Division III Baseball Poll Tuesday (March 10) afternoon, and Marietta College climbed up four spots from last week to sit #13 in the Top 25 rankings, which included action through Sunday (March 8). Head Coach Brian Brewer’s squad improved to 3-0 on Monday night with a 6-5 win over #3 Texas-Tyler on day one of the Abilene Classic. The Pioneers opened the year with a pair of wins in Memphis, Tenn., over Rhodes (Tenn.) and Blackburn (Ill.), respectively.
Salisbury (Md.) (14-1) sits atop the poll for a third straight week after collecting 19 of 25 first place votes. 2008 NCAA champion Trinity (Conn.) (0-0) received five first place votes at remained at #2, while Texas-Tyler (13-3), Kean (6-1) and Johns Hopkins (1-1) comprised the rest of the Top 5. Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) rival Heidelberg (7-2), Southern Maine (0-0), Eastern Connecticut (0-0), St. Scholastica (5-1) and Wis.-Whitewater (1-2) rounded out the Top 10.
The D3baseball.com Top 25 is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country, and is published weekly.
Marietta continues its spring break trip today with a pair of games on Tuesday in Abilene, Texas.The Pioneers take on Abilene Christian University, ranked #5 in NCAA Division II, at 2 p.m. and then battle McMurry University at 8 p.m.
