Three Lady Pioneers earn league honors at 2007 OAC Championships
Marietta women take sixth and men eighth

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A trio of sophomores—Randi Robertson (Avon Lake), Kaity Smith (Essex Junction, Vt.) and Shannon McDonald (Lorain/Amherst Steele)—finished in the top 20 to lead the Marietta College women's cross country team to a sixth place finish at the 2007 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships, which were hosted by John Carroll University Saturday (Oct. 27) afternoon at Highland Park Golf Course. The Pioneer men took eighth at the event, which featured all 10 OAC institutions.

Ohio Northern's men (38 points) and Baldwin-Wallace's women (27 points) took home the team titles. The Pioneers' placements matched those of a year ago.

Robertson was the first Marietta runner to finished the 6K race. She just missed the top 10 with an 11th place finish, crossing the line in 24:22.48. Smith was not far behind, taking 13th with a time of 24:25.34. McDonald followed in 17th, finishing in 24:43.03. All three Pioneers received second team All-OAC honors for their effort on Saturday.

Sophomore Logan Wern (North Canton/Hoover) was the fourth Pioneers to finish. She placed 54th with a time of 26:39.44. Junior Jessi Larrison (Batavia) came in 58th (27:00.83), while sophomore Brenda Puckett (Eaton/Preble Shawness) was 68th (27:52.54) and freshman Mehgan Cline (Dublin/Coffman) was 75th (28:37.60).

Senior Harrison Potter (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) led the men's team with a 47th place finish. Potter, the top Marietta finisher in each of the last three seasons, completed the 8K course in 28:11.41. Sophomore Mike Siringer (Willowick) took 52nd with a time of 28:14.35, while senior John Hull (Scot Dept, W.Va./Winfield) placed 68th (28:40.00), freshman Max Kenngott (Akron/St. Vincent-St. Mary) finished 70th (28:41.34) and sophomore Cody Thomas (North Olmsted) rounded out the top five finishers in 85th (29:12.89.) Also competing on Saturday were junior Joseph Wynes (East Aurora, N.Y.), who took 94th (29:25.56), sophomore Corey Blattler (Barnsville), who took 107th (29:56.30) and sophomore Mario Louie D'Amico (Shadyside), who took 125th (31:27.68).

Marietta will conclude its season Saturday (Nov. 10) afternoon at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional, which will be hosted by Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich.
