Marietta's Robertson named OAC Cross Country Runner of the Week
Junior led Pioneers to a second place finish at Don Carthcart Invitational on Saturday

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio — The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) office released its Athletes of the Week Monday (Sept. 29 afternoon for the period of Sept. 22-29, and Marietta College junior Randi Robertson (Avon Lake) was named the OAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Robertson, a 2007 All-OAC honoree, led Marietta with a seventh place finish at the Don Carthcart Invitational, hosted by Salisbury (Md.) University on Saturday (Sept. 27). She covered the six-kilometer course in new personal-best time of 22:40, less than one minute behind the overall winner. Robertson's previous career-best performance came at the 2007 NCAA Great Lakes Regional where she took 47th after finishing in 23:20.35.
Thanks to the efforts of Robertson and her teammates, the Pioneers returned home to campus with a second place finish overall at the event. Marietta totaled 98 points, which was second only to NCAA Division II Kutztown (Pa.) University who won the title with 30 points. The Pioneers posted a strong showing against three of the South/Southeast Region's top 10 schools, according to the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III Regional Rankings, which were released on Sept. 23. Marietta finished ahead of third-place the University of Mary Washington (Va.), ranked sixth in its region, sixth place Roanoke (Va.) College, ranked ninth in its region and seventh place Christopher Newport (Va.) University, ranked seventh in its region.
The Pioneers now turn their attention to the All-Ohio Championships, which will take place on Friday (Oct. 10) afternoon in Delaware, Ohio. The event, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University, begins at 2 p.m.
