Dan May
Sports Information Director

Dan May, a 2003 graduate of Marietta College enters his sixth year as the full-time Sports Information Director at his alma mater. May, who is the College's sixth full-time SID, was hired in August of 2003.

May, an active member of The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), is Marietta College's main contact with the media when it comes to information about varsity athletics. He has been award 14 publication awards for his division in his five years on the job, including Best in the Nation for the 2007 baseball media guide and 2005 softball media guide. In 2008, Marietta’s volleyball and men’s basketball media guides were voted best cover while its women’s basketball media guide was picked fourth in the nation.

In 2007, he won five awards. In addition to the baseball media guide being named best in the nation, the football poster and women's basketball media guide were voted third in the nation, while the football media guide and men's basketball media guide took sixth in the nation. He also won best cover for both the baseball and softball media guides in 2005. In addition, his baseball guide earned fifth in the nation in 2005. In 2004, Marietta College was awarded best cover for its men's basketball guide and the women's basketball guide finished second in the nation.

"I am honored to work at Marietta," May said. "I enjoy working with such a great staff of coaches and administrators and will do my best to help all of our programs as they continue to represent Marietta College and its values."

May played four years on the Marietta College baseball team, including the national runners-up squads in 2001 and 2002. He was Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference in 2002 and 2003 and first team Verizon Academic All-District IV. May compiled a 13-3 record in four seasons with the Etta Express. His most memorable victory came when he defeated Ohio Northern 8-4 on May 4, 2002, to give Coach Don Schaly his 1,400 victory. May was an honorable mention All-OAC choice in 2002 after going 7-1 on the mound.

May graduated cum laude with a degree in management in 2003. He nearing the completion of a Master’s of Corporate Media degree.

"Having the luxury of being the student assistant allowed me to gain tremendous experience that has enabled me to build upon all that I learned from my predecessor,” May said.

May, who is from Avon Lake, Ohio, is the son of Pat and Pam May. He has two brothers, Patrick and Kevin, and one sister, Theresa. Dan, Kevin and Theresa are triplets. He currently resides in Marietta.
