MC's Banks and Sharrett honored on d3football.com's national Team of the Week

Nov. 10, 2004
MARIETTA, Ohio - The d3football.com staff announced today (Nov. 10) that Marietta College senior Thadd Sharrett (Circleville) and sophomore Anthony Banks (Colonial Heights, VA) were named to the week 10 Team of the Week.

Sharrett had 14 tackles, nine solo, as Marietta shut out then-ranked Baldwin-Wallace 26-0 Saturday (Nov. 6) afternoon at Don Drumm Stadium. He recently moved from the secondary to linebacker and came up with five tackles for loss, a sack, a pass broken and a forced fumble in the win. He also added three quarterback hurries.

Banks, the Pioneers' strong safety. had two interceptions in Marietta's win. His third quarter interception was returned 57 yards for a TD to put MC ahead 23-0. His second pick came late in the fourth frame and was returned to 39 yards to the B-W 21, stalling another Yellow Jacket drive. The sophomore tallied seven tackles, including five solo stops in the win, the first over B-W since 1996. Marietta's last shutout also came in 1996.

The Pioneers (6-3, 5-3 OAC) will look to close out the season with a win over second-place Ohio Northern Saturday (Nov. 13) at 1 p.m. in Ada, Ohio. A win over the Polar Bears, who are ranked No. 15 in this week's d3football.com poll, would give Marietta a share of second place in the OAC.
