Football team hosts clinic for more than 100 youth players
Aug. 29, 2005
MARIETTA, Ohio - The More than 100 youth league football players crammed onto the field at Don Drumm Stadium Sunday evening for some special instruction from Marietta College’s coaches and players.
“This was a fun and exciting evening of football,” said Marietta coach Todd Glaser. “To get this many young football players out on the field, and for our players and coaches to get an opportunity to interact with them for about an hour is great. We hope these boys have a great season and hope they’ll come out and support the Pioneers.”
The camp, which included passing, running and catching drills, was free to the players in the Marietta Youth Football League. All of the players in attendance were also invited back to see the Pioneers play Otterbein in an Ohio Athletic Conference game at 6 p.m. Oct. 1 at Don Drumm Stadium. All area youth league football players who wear their jersey are admitted to the game for free.
Marietta opens its 2005 season at home with Emory & Henry (Va.) at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, in the first River City Bowl. The Pioneers are giving free T-shirts to the first 1,000 fans, are hosting a tailgate party at 5:30 p.m., plus many other activities that include face painting and music.
Ticket prices for Saturday’s game are $15 for family pass, $5 for adults, $3 for senior citizens/students and free for Marietta students, faculty and staff, and students who attend other OAC institutions.
