Dawson and Hahn named OAC Players of the Week
Duo instrumental in Marietta's 31-23 win at Heidelberg

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio — Marietta College senior linebacker Brian Hahn (Upper Sandusky) and freshman wide receiver Ryan Dawson (Parkersburg, W.Va.) earned Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Players of the Week honors, according to the league office, which released its weekly awards on Monday (Oct. 29) afternoon.

Both Dawson, the special teams pick, and Hahn, the defensive selection, played key roles in the Pioneers' 31-23 victory at Heidelberg College Saturday (Oct. 23) afternoon.

Dawson scored on an 80-yard kickoff return in the first quarter to give Marietta a 7-3 advantage. It was his first special teams touchdown of the season and extends Marietta's streak of scoring a touchdown on a punt or kickoff to six years. Dawson then added a 30-yard and two-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter to seal the victory. He became the first Pioneer to score three touchdowns in a game since 2004.

Hahn, a co-captain, had another outstanding day at inside linebacker. He matched his career high with 15 tackles for the second straight week, finishing with eight solo stops and one tackle for loss. Hahn has now collected 90 total hits, which ties him for the OAC lead. He is also tied for second in the OAC with 14.5 tackles for loss.   

Marietta (2-6, 2-5 OAC) will look to win two straight when it plays host to Wilmington College (2-5, 2-6 OAC) Saturday (Nov. 3) afternoon. The game will be the final home game of the season and Senior Day for 20 players.
