Six Pioneer football players earn All-OAC in 2007
Hahn and Ream awarded first team honors

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio — The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) released its 2007 football award winners Monday (Nov. 19) morning, and Head Coach Curt Wiese's Marietta College squad had six players earn league honors. Seniors Brian Hahn (Upper Sandusky) and Clay Ream (Burbank/Northwestern) earned first team honors, while sophomore Ryan Dawson (Parkersburg, W.Va./South) and senior Jason MacKay (Bexley) earned second team honors and junior Grant Cowell (Perrysville/Loudonville) and senior Chad McDaniel (Wooster/Triway) received honorable mention.
Hahn, an inside linebacker, led the team and finished third in the OAC during the regular season in total tackles with 104. The 2006 All-American also paced the team in tackles for loss with 14.5 and interceptions with two. 2007 is the third year for Hahn to earn league recognition; he was given honorable mention All-OAC in 2005 and 2006.
Ream, a nose tackle, finished third on the squad in total tackles with 70, which ranked 15th in the OAC. He also led the Pioneers in sacks with six while finishing second in tackles for loss with 12.5. The 2006 All-American added two blocked kicks and two forced fumbles in 2007. Ream has now earned All-OAC honors in all four years. He was named first team All-OAC in 2006, second team All-OAC in 2005 and given honorable mention All-OAC in 2004.
Dawson, a wide receiver, was one of the top receivers in the league in his first year with the Pioneers. He led the team in catches with 45, receiving yards with 651 and touchdown receptions with seven. Dawson, who averaged 14.5 yards per catch, finished fifth among OAC receivers in catches per game (4.5.) and seventh in receiving yards per game (65.1) in 2007. Dawson also scored on special teams, running back a kickoff on a trick play 80 yards for a touchdown against Heidelberg.
MacKay, the Pioneers' offensive right tackle, earned second team honors for the second straight season. He and the offensive line allowed just 23 sacks, which ranked fifth in the OAC. They also paved the way for Marietta's running backs to average 91.0 yards in 2007.
Cowell, an inside linebacker, was second on the team in total stops with 86, which ranked fifth in the OAC. He led the team in solo hits with 46 and added 2.5 tackles for loss in 2007.
McDaniel, a wide receiver, caught 41 passes for 539 yards, which ranked second on the team in 2007. He averaged 13.1 yards per catch and 53.9 yards per game this fall. The 2006 second team All-OAC honoree finished his career third all-time at Marietta in receptions with 134 catches and receiving yards with 1,830 yards.
Marietta finished the season 3-7 overall and 3-6 in the OAC. The Pioneers played five ranked teams and another that fell out of the Top 25 the week of the game in 2007. Marietta closed the year by winning two of its final three games. Its only loss in that stretch came against No. 1 Mount Union on the final game of the season.
