Game 1: Manchester 78, Thomas More 56
Box Score Manchester (5-4) jumped out to a 41-25 halftime lead and held on for the 78-56 victory over Thomas More (3-6) in the first game of the 34th annual Shrine Tournament, hosted by the Holiday Inn and Schob Team Sports Wednesday (Dec. 29) at Marietta College. Jamaal Wade paced the Spartans with 19 points, while Eric Berger added 14 points and nine boards and Jon Cain finished with 12 points in the win. R.K. Thurman collected a team-high 13 points and eight boards for Thomas More, while Andrae Woodard finished with 11 points, five steals and five assists.
Game 2: Waynesburg 112, Marietta 103
Box Score Waynesburg (4-5) out scored Marietta (1-9) 24-to-15 in the final 5:40 to pull out the 112-103 victory in the second game of the 34th annual Shrine Tournament, hosted by the Holiday Inn and Schob Team Sports Wednesday (Dec. 29) at Marietta College. The Pioneers were able to use their up tempo style to stay close to the Yellow Jackets throughout the game and tied the score at 88-88 with just under six to play, but their shots stopped falling down the stretch and Waynesburg held on for the win. Marc Lodovico led the way for Waynesburg with 28 points, while four others finished with double figures. Jeff Nero added 10 assists and seven boards to go along with his eight points in the win. Marietta was paced by Matt Hines with 19 points and nine boards, while Matt Rucker added 16 points and eight rebounds. Chris Fulton and Craig Stewart each finished with 15 points and Chad Sponseller collected a double-double with 16 points and 10 assists in the loss.

Consolation Game: Marietta 104, Thomas More 98
Box Score The Pioneers (2-9) captured the consolation game of the 34th annual Shrine Tournament with a 104-98 victory over the visiting Saints of Thomas More (3-7). Matt Hines led the way once again for Marietta with 28 points and nine boards. He has now totaled 1,222 career points, moving him into 15th place on MC's all-time scoring list. He was named to the All-Tournament Team for his efforts, the third-straight year that he earned the honor. Chad Sponseller (19), Chris Fulton (12) and Matt Rucker (11) each scored in double figures for the second straight night. Josh Hull also added 11 points in the win. Thomas More was led by Andrae Woodard with 26 points and six assist, while E.J. Haynes added 22 points and 17 rebounds and Garry Horton finished with 12 points in the loss. Woodard earned All-Tournament honors. MC connected on 13-of-36 from three-point range and 29-of-32 from the line in the win. The Pioneers forced 26 turnovers and had 12 steals. MC set two tournament records this weekend as they totaled the most points in a tournament (207) and most three-point field goals made in a tournament (27). Marietta returns to action Wednesday (Jan 5) when it hosts Muskingum in a Coaches vs. Cancer game at 7 p.m. in Ban Johnson Arena.
Championship Game: Manchester vs. Waynesburg, 7 p.m.

Manchester (6-4) led from wire-to-wire in route to capturing its first Marietta Shrine Tournament title (Dec. 30) with a 77-58 victory over Waynesburg (4-6). The Spartans were paced once again by Tournament MVP Jamaal Wade with 19 points. Eric Berger also made the All-Tournament Team and finished with 16, while Wes Gardner and Julian Guess each had 11 in the win. Waynesburg was led by Ray Gillespie with 12 and Marc Lodovico with 11. Lodovico also added seven boards and was named to the All-Tournament Team along with teammate Jeff Nero who finished with eight points in the championship game.
