Nov. 19, 2005
BUFFALO, N. Y. – Fans at the Buffalo State Coles Classic got introduced to the Pioneers' Fun & Gun this weekend. On Saturday (Nov. 19), Marietta again put its long-distance shooting on display, but it was a Pitt-Bradford player that stole the show in the consolation game, which resulted in a 131-119 victory for the Panthers.

Marietta hit six three-pointers and forced nine turnovers in the first nine minutes to take a 41-18 lead with 11:18 to play in the half. Pitt-Bradford, however, followed with a 30-7 run over the next eight minutes to tie the game at 48-48 with 2:34 remaining. The Panthers were then able to enter the half with a 61-55 lead.

The Pioneers cut the lead, which was extended to 14 early in the second half, to one, 90-89, with 11:18 to go in the game, but too much Ryan Race gave Pitt-Bradford a 131-119 victory.

Race finished the game 22-of-28 from the floor and 11-of-16 from the line to score a tournament-record 55 points. Four of his teammates added double figure points in the win.

Marietta was led for the second day in a row by sophomore Craig Stewart (Circleville). Stewart tied his school record with 20 three-point attempts, nailing eight, en route to 27 points. Stewart picked up All-Tournament Team honors for his efforts this weekend.

Sophomore Andrew Good (Bexley) added 15 points and five assists, while teammate Ryan Wilkinson (Wilmington/Clinton Massie) finished with 13 points.

As a team, Marietta connected on 40-of-106 (.377) from the floor, including 17-of-59 (.288) from long range. Pitt-Bradford, on the other hand, hit 46-of-71 shots and did not attempt a three-pointer. The Panthers did convert 39-of-49 (.796) free throws, while the Pioneers hit 22-of-29 (.759).

Pitt-Bradford out rebounded Marietta 57-to-45 and committed 30 turnovers to Marietta's 19 in the win.
