A Pioneer receives All-OAC recognition for 12th straight season

TWINSBURG, Ohio — The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) league office announced its 2006 men's basketball awards Wednesday (Mar. 1) morning and Marietta College sophomore Craig Stewart (Circleville) was given All-OAC honorable mention for his efforts during the 2005-06 season.
It is the 70th time since 1950-51 that a Pioneer was recognized by the OAC and 12th straight year that at least one Marietta player earned some type of league honor.
Stewart had another remarkable year as a long-range shooter. He finished as the team's leading scorer, averaging 14.2 points, which ranked 11th during the regular season.
The guard finished the season 107-of-298 (.359) from the field, including 91-of-253 (.360) from beyond the arc. His 91 three-point field goals and 253 three-point field goal attempts each set a new school record. The attempts was also an OAC record. In addition, Stewart connected on 51-of-57 (.895) from the foul line, the second-best shooting percentage in the league during regular season play.
Stewart hit double figures in 18 of the team's 25 games. He set a school and OAC record for three-point field goal attempts in a game when he attempted 22 against Pit-Bradford (Pa.) on November 15, 2005. Stewart's best game came against Mount Union (Jan. 11), when he hit 9-of-16 from long range and finished with a career-high 31 points.
The Pioneers finished the season with an overall record of 4-21, including a 1-17 league record.
