Marietta College Athletics' summer camps in full swing
Basketball and Volleyball camps begin

MARIETTA, Ohio — Despite classes being finished for the summer, there was a lot of energy radiating from the activity courts inside the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center and Ban Johnson Arena, on the campus of Marietta College. 

Starting Monday, June 12, both volleyball and men�fs basketball began hosting summer camps. For volleyball, it is the lone camp of the summer, while Coach Doug Foote has two additional camps starting on June 18 and June 26.

�gThis first camp is for second, third and fourth graders, and we've been doing this camp for many, many years,�h Foote said. �gWe really break everything down. We work on fundamentals a lot.�h

Foote, who just finished his 14th season at Marietta, opens a resident camp for boys in grades five through 11th on June 18. The camp runs from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and lasts until June 20. All meals are provided.

Foote and his staff also have a three-day team camp starting June 25. It is open to all junior varsity and varsity boys entering grades nine through 12.

�gWe've still got room in our camps for anyone who still wants to sign up,�h said Foote, who concludes the first camp on June 13. �gWe've always taken some late-comers.�h

This is the second straight year coach Tom Symons has hosted the youth volleyball camp.

�gWe've got about 55 girls this year, which is a pretty good number for a camp without much of a history,�h Symons said. �gWe're just hoping to continue to expand it in the years to come.�h

Symons�f camp is for girls in grades seven to 12 and runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. until June 15.

Marietta College�fs summer camp schedule also includes baseball, soccer and football.
