Marietta College to open 2006-07 basketball season with Midnight Madness Saturday night
Doors open at 11:30 p.m. Free t-shirts to the first 500 fans

MARIETTA, Ohio - The Marietta College men and women's basketball teams are getting ready to start another exciting season on the hardwood, and what better time to get your first glimpse of the 2006-07 squads then at Midnight Madness. The annual exhibition, which celebrates the first day of practice, will serve as the night cap to a full day of Homecoming events Saturday (Oct. 14) at Marietta College.

Doors of Ban Johnson Arena will open at 11:30 p.m. The first 500 fans to enter will receive a Midnight Madness free t-shirt. Subway is once again donating free subs and Pepsi is providing the refreshments.

The Marietta College dance team will officially kick things off with a performance at 11:55 p.m., and the 2006-07 men and women's teams will take the floor to warm up at 12:01 a.m.

Once the teams are warmed up, they will be introduced by class to the Pioneers' crowd.

At 12:10 a.m., the women's basketball team will scrimmage. After a performance by the Marietta College cheerleaders, the men's basketball team will take the floor for short scrimmage.

The event will conclude with a three-point competition for fans in attendance, sponsored by Schob Team Sports. Prizes will also be awarded. Admission is free and doors open at 11:30 p.m.
