Creasap and Luckhardt net 15 a piece in 64-59 loss to Mount Union
Late rally can't overcome first-half scoring drought

MARIETTA, Ohio — Sophomore guards Isaiah Creasap (Wooster/Northwestern) and Steve Luckhardt (St. Clairsville/Shadyside) each finished with 15 points in Marietta College's 64-59 loss at home to Mount Union College Wednesday (Jan. 3) evening. [Box Score]
The loss drops the Pioneers' record to 4-8 overall and 0-5 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). The Purple Raiders improve to 7-5 on the year and 2-3 in the OAC.
A Luckhardt jumper with 13:34 on the clock sparked a 11-0 Marietta run that gave it an 18-9 lead at the 9:31 mark of the first half. Unfortunately, the Pioneers failed to score the rest of the period and Mount Union entered the half with a 22-18 advantage.
The Purple Raiders extended their lead to 15 points, 44-29, with 8:28 to play in the game. The Pioneers worked the deficit down to five points in the final minute but time ran out before they could get any closer.
Marietta finished the night shooting 22-of-65 (.338) from the floor, including 8-of-25 (.320) from long range. It hit 7-of-7 (1.000) from the free throw line and out rebounded Mount Union 36-32. The Raiders went 22-of-46 (.478) from the field, 4-of-15 (.267) from beyond the arc and 16-of-30 (.533) from the charity stripe. Both teams finished with 13 turnovers.
Sophomore Tyler Morando (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Central) and junior Matt Phillips (Williamson, W.Va./Tug Valley) each came off the bench Wednesday to add nine and seven points, respectively. In addition, senior Matt Rucker (Proctorville/Chesapeake) pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.
Mount Union had three players reach double figures. Stu Anglum led the way with 18 points, while Nick Sefscik had 16 points and 11 boards and Sam King finished with 13 points.
