Haumesser steps down as assistant men's crew coach
2004 MC graduate Matt Hoffer to replace him for this season
Feb. 22, 2006
MARIETTA, Ohio – Marietta College Director of Athletics, Physical Education & Recreation Debbie Lazorik announced Thursday (Feb. 22) that assistant men's crew coach John Haumesser has resigned his duties as of Friday (Feb. 23). Haumesser was hired in August after graduating from the University of Buffalo in 2005.
"My reasons for this decision are in no way due to any unpleasantness or displeasure with the College, athletic department or the team itself," said Haumesser. "However, I feel that it is in my best interest both personally and professionally to leave the College at this point to pursue other avenues."
Former Pioneer Navy rower and 2004 graduate Matt Hoffer will serve as the assistant coach under Chris Pucella for the rest of the season.
Marietta opens its season March 18 at the FIT Invitational in Palm Bay, Fla. The team will head down to Florida on March 10 to prepare for the race and to get some intense training in a warm climate.
