Fighting Scots capture 3-1 victory over Pioneers
Sept. 5, 2004
MARIETTA, Ohio - The Marietta College men's soccer team took on Wooster in the final game of the 2004 MC Soccer Classic this afternoon (Sept. 5) at Don Drumm Stadium. The Fighting Scots scored three goals in the first half in route to a 3-1 victory over the Pioneers.
Wooster (2-0) kept Marietta (0-1-1) off balance for most of the day. The Pioneers finally managed to mount an offensive down the stretch, but the deficit was too much to overcome and the Fighting Scots picked up the win.
Alex Hohman (Louisville, KY/DuPont Manual) score the lone Pioneer goal with 12 seconds left to play in the game. Hohman took a pass from Josh Mains (Trafford, PA) and fired a shot out of the reach of David Treleven.
Wooster jumped onto the board early when Andrew Etter scored off a pass from Adam Milligan. Nate Little also picked up a goal and Kyle Janiga completed the scoring with a penalty kick in the 45th minute.
Marietta was out shot 21-11 on the afternoon.
The Pioneers will look to pick up their first win of the season when they travel to Penn State-Altoona for a tournament this weekend (Sept. 11-12). They will open the tournament with a game against Juniata at 4 p.m. The women will also play Juniata Saturday at 2 p.m.
