ADA, Ohio - The Pioneer men's soccer team ran into a tough OAC competitor Saturday (Oct. 2) as Ohio Northern routed Marietta 4-0 in its first conference contest of the 2004 campaign.

Ohio Northern (7-4-1, 1-0 OAC) set the tone early with a goal in the second minute from Adam Gatton and Marietta (3-3-1, 0-1 OAC) could never recover. Gatton added his second goal of the game 11 minutes later to put ONU up 2-0.

Tom Schiller scored the Polar Bear's other two goals in the win. ONU out shot Marietta 23-10 on the afternoon.

Adam Cervenka (Mentor) allowed all four goals, making five saves in the loss.

Marietta will look to even its OAC record Wedesday (Oct. 6) when they host Wilmington at Don Drumm Stadium. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
